Since Instagram first rolled out the new business profile in June of 2016, there’s been a lively debate on Instagram Business Profile vs. Personal Profile.
We’re breaking down the differences between a personal and business account to help you decide what’s best for your business. Let’s dive in…
Instagram Personal Profile vs Business Profile
At a very basic level, the biggest difference is it help Instagram and users decipher whether your account is for personal use or if it’s associated with some type of business. Below is a list of features available to Instagram business profiles.
Instagram Business Business Tools
✔️Ability to add Email, Phone (call OR text), Reservations, Directions contact options. This is VERY valuable tool that allows customers to get in touch with you directly with the tap of a button. (From personal experience, I used the “Directions” button while traveling numerous times.)
✔️Analytics– this is a BIG one and we promise we’ll give you a thorough run down in an upcoming blog.
Post Performance: discovery (where your views came from), interactions people had on your post, profile visits
Days & Times your audience is most engaged
Audience Insights (gender, age range and location)
✔️Promoted Posts- sponsor your content to reach a wider audience
Ultimately, switching to a business profile helps you better understand your audience so that you can adjust your content accordingly and grow your following. And that’s just good business.
